Western Sydney comprises the following local government areas: Auburn, Bankstown, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Holroyd, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith and Wollondilly.

Figures from the 2001 census show that 46.3% of Sydney's population lives in Western Sydney. Population figures and trends are set out here.
